Course Overview

This course will provide you with the skills required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and manage emergency situations using the DRSABCD action plan. Ideal for anyone looking to certify or update their CPR skills and knowledge, it includes performing CPR on an adult and infant, managing unconscious casualties and using an automatic defibrillator (AED), giving you the confidence to be ready to provide CPR in a real-life situation.

Please note: Australian standards recommend refreshing CPR skills every 12 months.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. Lead Institute requires all students to have an LLN level of year 9 (ACSF Level 2), + basic computer skills (for the online learning and knowledge assessment portion of the program), have the physical capacity to perform practical demonstrations, including 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin on the floor.

A valid Unique Student Identifier is required at the time of enrollment.

Study Load

This course is delivered within a blended delivery consisting of:

Online – Up to 4 hours of self-paced study, including formative assessments through the student portal, consisting of interactive and engaging learning materials, and multiple-choice questions.

Face to face – Up to 3 hours practical demonstration in a classroom simulated environment.

eLearning Resources

Students will complete the online modules and multiple-choice questions at their own pace via Lead Institute’s online learning management system, aXcelerate. The time taken will vary depending on the student’s knowledge, skills, and experience.

Enrolment Requirements

Students must be minimum 18 years of age. Prior to enrolment:
  • You are required to complete 2 to 4 hours of pre-course theory. It is a requirement that this be completed prior to attending the half-day workshop.
  • Students must have the physical ability to provide resuscitation by kneeling on the floor and performing two (2) minutes of uninterrupted CPR.
